Gold Rush Educational Program

THE OLDE COLOMA THEATRE PROUDLY PRESENTS AN INTERACTIVE MELODRAMA GOLD RUSH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM:

“Rush To Find The Riches” or "Looking For The Gold Within Yourself”

In this educational program we take a step back in time to gold rush era Coloma where we not only learn gold facts, we also meet some of the California gold rush’s most notable characters. In true melodrama fashion this is a fully interactive experience where we boo and cheer… heck, you might even get the chance to become a part of the show.

This Program fits 4th Grade California History Curriculum Requirements.  These Performances are booked for individual groups February through June, Tuesday – Friday   9:30a – 4:00p (Some Evening  bookings available upon request).  Each Performance Ranges Between 50 – 70 Minutes in Length depending on the Amount of Student Participation (we can custom fit the length of your  performance to fit your scheduling needs within reason).

This show is for school sponsored education programs only and tickets are not available at the box office. Please contact us at (530) 626-5282 or Email us below for more information.

Our Building has quite the history!

50 + years and going strong thanks to our supporters and patrons

1939: It was first erected on San Francisco's Treasure Island for the Golden Gate International Exposition by the Division of Natural Resources as their exhibit building.

1941: The building was disassembled and with care moved to Mt. Danaher and given new life as barracks for the California Division of Forestry Rangers.

1968: The building was scheduled to be burned to the ground in a fire fighting exercise. Upon hearing of it's plight our founder, June Scott, campaigned and lobbied the state. All her hard work finally paid off and then Governor Ronald Reagan sold June the building for $1.

1972: After lots of fundraising and dedication by June and our community, the doors opened and Melodrama in Coloma began.

2022: We celebrated our 50th anniversary.
