Gold Rush Educational Program
THE OLDE COLOMA THEATRE PROUDLY PRESENTS AN INTERACTIVE MELODRAMA GOLD RUSH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM:
This Program fits 4th and 5th Grade California History Curriculum Requirements. These Performances are booked for individual groups February through June, Tuesday – Friday 9:30a – 4:00p (Some Evening bookings available upon request). Each Performance Ranges Between 50 – 70 Minutes in Length depending on the Amount of Student Participation (we can custom fit the length of your performance to fit your scheduling needs within reason).
“Rush To Find The Riches” or "Looking For The Gold Within Yourself”
This audience participation production, allows ten children and two adults, along with our melodrama actors, to be part of the Show!
Students witness re-enactments of James Marshall finding the gold nugget in the American River, in January 1848.They meet Captain John Sutter as he interacts with Marshall and the gold, at Sutter's Fort. The students visit with Sam Brannon, California's first millionaire. Learning about the gold rush economy. And they, and two adults become PART OF THE SHOW, as volunteers perform for their classmates.
The Theatre hosts dozens of field trips annually, (groups already visiting the nearby gold discovery site,) for an affordable price, in our historic building. Sitting just a short walk from the gold discovery site and exhibits!
